Computer Science Special Topics: Web design

Class objective: To provide students with hands on approach to all facets of web design.  Students will learn and apply web design techniques, and assist in the maintenance and creation of the Capital High Web site.

Requirements:

1.       Computer knowledge and ability, dedication to the class and fulfillment of class contract.

2.     Students will be required to maintain a class notebook.  All handouts and summaries are to be included.  Notebook is to be kept in chronological order according to dates. This will be checked every 9 weeks and graded accordingly. Students must have notebook daily in class.

3.     Assessment for grades will be at the teacher’s discretion, however the following options will be used: notebook, daily assignment completion, summary reports, web assessment, peer review, sign off sheets and tests.

4.     Students are responsible for safely using equipment and return of all equipment.

5.     All students must have on file a current acceptable use policy statement.

6.     All students must have an active email address for communication with the class.

7.     Tardiness and absenteeism are not acceptable behaviors.

8.     Daily sign off sheet are to be completed and taken seriously.  Students will complete a peer review of material to be posted.  Review will consist of a check of spelling, punctuation, correct tense/voice, appropriate and aesthetically pleasing and within the CHS style sheet. If material is posted and mistakes are present both students will loose credit for the assignment.
