According to Charles A Garfield, president of the Peak Performance Center in Berkeley, California, there are six distinctive traits that characterize people who outperform their colleagues:

  1. They are able to transcend their previous levels of accomplishments.
  2. They avoid the so-called comfort zone- that no-man’s land where a person feels too much at home.
  3. They do what they do for the art of it and are guided by compelling internal goals.
  4. They confidently take risks after laying out the worst consequences beforehand.
  5. They solve problems rather than place blame.
  6. They are able to rehearse coming actions or events mentally.

Students in Honors English are held accountable for the minimum course requirements for Honors English, and the regular English classes are held accountable for minimum course requirements for regular classes.  You may visit the state website to get a complete listing of the course standard objectives for any class.  The minimum course requirements are posted at this site under my name as well.  In addition, I give each student a copy of the course requirements, and I also give course requirements and a syllabus to each parent attending open house.  Hopefully, this provides ample opportunities for you to view the guidelines for the class.
