Olympiad Science Competition
On Saturday, March 17, 2007 several Capital High science students traveled to the West Virginia University Institute of Technology to participate in the annual Olympiad Science Competition. Congratulations to Ben Frame for placing 1st in karuko, 3rd in the biology scavenger hunt and an honorable mention in the arithmetic hunt by two's, Hanna Reese for placing honorable mention in the titration race, Nicole Mata for placing 3rd in both the biology scavenger hunt and the karuko challenge, Kristi Rule for placing 3rd in the chemistry challenge, and Crystal O'Daniel for placing 2nd in the crossword puzzle. Also involved in the competition were ninth graders Nick Hurst, Chris Nyden, and Alex Pangor. Nick Hurst placed 2nd in the Tin Foil Berge and the Egg drop, and 3rd in gravity-powered car and the laser shoot. Chris Nyden placed 1st in the egg drop, 2nd in the gravity-powered vehicle, and 3rd in the laser shoot. He also received an honorable mention for the “What’s that?” category. Alex Panger placed first in the gravity-powered vehicle category, 2nd in the egg drop, small barges, and “What’s that?,” category, and 3rd in the paper airplanes and laser shoot. Congratulations to those winners, and a job well done to all who participated.
