Capital High School
Capital Success University Rationale

Moving from a middle school to a high school is a major transition in the life of an adolescent. During ninth grade, students are experiencing the emotional, physical and psychological changes associated with adolescent growth, development and maturation.

The transition from middle school to high school is the most difficult challenge facing students nationwide. Approximately 30% of all students who enter the ninth grade will never finish high school. The overwhelming majorities who drop out say they are bored and/or do not see the relevance of what they are being asked to learn. Addressing these challenges at the beginning of high school will ensure a smooth transition as well as improved retention rates.

Capital Success University (CSU) is a school-within-a-school/smaller learning community. It is specifically designed to meet the complex needs of students entering high school for the first time.
